His Panic

His Panic: Why Americans Fear Hispanics in the U.S. (Hardcover)
by Geraldo Rivera (Author)

Book Description
A rare, unflinching look at one of today’s most important issues—from one of today’s most well-known journalists.

In this insightful, well-researched book, Peabody and Emmy® Award-winning journalist Geraldo Rivera examines the growth of the Hispanic population in the U.S., fueled partly by what may be the single most divisive issue in America today: illegal immigration. With objective clarity and personal conviction, Rivera sheds light on an issue that is muddled with confusion and prejudice —and too often blamed for everything from terrorism to welfare.

Examining the past—his own parents’ struggle to be “real” Americans, as well as the plight of other ethnic groups in their quest for that dream—Rivera places the issue of illegal immigration in a historic context, dispelling the myth that we are facing an unprecedented crisis.

A vital contribution to the ongoing debate about immigration, His Panic is destined to reshape the way Americans view the future of our country.

About the Author
A veteran foreign correspondent since 1973, Geraldo Rivera has received over 170 journalism awards. Currently the host of Geraldo at Large, he has been an investigative reporter for 20/20 and hosted Good Night America, The Geraldo Rivera Show, and Rivera Live.

All good

I think Oreilly on FOX and Marc Levine on talk radio WABC 770 are hilarious at times, even when they are completely off mark. Although I am a registered Democrat I often side with Republicans on many issues. HisPANIC sounds like it upholds my view towards immigration. Cant wait to read it.

I've been more in tune to Fox News this election seanson due to MSNBC being so bias with their support for Obama.O'Reilly usually has more outrageous segments and catches my eye until he goes overboard. Hannity is actually a little more balance with his views. Also, I like the Fox round table with Brit Hume,JuaN Williams and host of others. As far as for talk radio. I listen to a local spanish political show on www.wonq.com, its call "Quedate con Miguel". The host labels himself an independent and has help elect some candidates to county commisions in Orlando and Kissimmee respectively.

Has anyone taken a political quiz lately? I have. Lol. It says that my 'views' are almost exactly the same as Nelson Mandela's. Lol. I like that a whole lot. I always liked Nelson Mandela.

If any of you takes a political quiz and they say to you that you have the same views as Richard Nixon or Himmler or some Right Wing Dictator from South America or Central America like Anastacio Somoza, then I would say you got big problems. So, those with conservative views---just realize that being mainly pro-status quo is not progress. It is impeding needed and very important CHANGE for the better. Thinking conservatively that things are just fine the way they are is usually a recipe for problems in my VIEW. Lol.

Geraldo Rivera's father Cruz Rivera was Puerto Rican and his mother is Jewish. He grew up in New York and was a Young Lord. Later on he was a lawyer and then a journalist and I always thought his Spanish was fairly bad. I wish he would have learned it better. I do like how he defends his views passionately. He is Puerto Rican in that way all the way! LOL

Anyone who shares views with Republicans (like Sonambulo stated) is gonna be my 'ENEMY'. LOL. I am glad both of you are on here to bring some variety to this board.

My personal opinion is that no self-respecting Hispanic, Latino, Puerto Rican etc. should ever ever in a million years be a conservative. They are cutting their own heads off if they do. But that is just my opinion. Lol.

Have a fine debate gentlemen.

Hey Suki

Hey Suki- I do not bring "variety" to this board, I bring the TRUTH, simplified, unbiased, sanitized, and verified. I do so with the hopes that far left wing, non-conformist America haters, like yourself, can see the error of your ways. It is a tiring, and probably hopeless cause, but I care about my fellow Boricuas, even if they are errant and inflexible in their views. Plus this didactic endeavor is a "goof" because we can never agree on any thing and you sometimes get mad at me; Hows the weather over there in the land of Bill Richardson?.

Hey check out Radio-Locator [CLICK ON THE WORD] you can find every radio station in Puerto Rico, and all over the world for that matter. The site has the links so that you may listen live. Ive been checking out a lot of Island talk shows and Salsoul radio. Dont ever say I never gave you nothing, oiste.
