Mano,what are you talking about?
Latin America extends from North America to South America. You have 27 countries with diverse geography and circumstances. And I'll remind you that Brazil is the 8th largest market. A more accurate comparison would be our neighbors in the Carribean-Barbados.An independent island with a higher per capita income than PR.Anyhow, read on: Fortuņo had to meet with creditors so they wouldn't downgrade the bond status to junk. The island is hanging by a thread. Open your eyes. O'Grady: Puerto Rico's Governor Channels Ronald Reagan - WSJ.com And since I know you will bring up Cuba and DR they wouldn't be an accurate comparison. Cuba is communist and DR shares the island with Haiti. We don't have both issues to deal with. |

Barbados????? mano te digo yo a ti....Puerto Rico has 4 million residents...explain to me how does that compares to Barbados or Bermuda (Brtiish Territory) that have less than 300,000 people.
Barbados has a per capita very similiar to Puerto Rico but you are comparing apples and oranges.....thye have diffetent resources and they dont have 4 million people only less than 300,000. (I have to repeat it twice for you) Funny that you can't find any Latin Republic to compare to Puerto Rico. Brazil is the 8th largest market???? wow, im impressed, that's why they have a per capita GDP of $10,500, that's half of Puerto Rico and very a high poverty rate. The island is hanging by a thread??????? as you say......I guess the worst case scenario is the United States goes bankrupt like you say (wink, wink) and Puerto Rico's standard of living will be like R.D. . Costa Rica, Panama and the rest of the Latin Republics......lol Last edited by MikeRavens; 20th November 2010 at 10:00. |

I just watched the film about the attack on Congress by Puerto Rica nationalists. I totally disagree that human life should be taken in that arbitrary way. If indeed there have been injustices of that kind against the Puerto Rican people by the USA then two wrongs do not make a right as they say. Ghanndi accomplished what Lolita wanted in a peaceful decent manner and she should have followed his example. I was always told that she was family although I never personally met her. May she rest in peace and be forgiven for her mistake.

Quote:
the problem with your comparison is Ghandi had the support of the majority of India.......Lolita had the support of less than 1% of Puerto Ricans. India is worse off independent than under British rule......beware of what you wish for. |

I am not comparing the two situations-YOU ARE. I merely drew a contrast between her chosen method and his. Obviously she would need greater support in order for the peacful method to be effective. However, that still doesn't justify taking of human life hat way. Neither does it necessarily follow that because some third-world country is worse off any other country will meet the same fate. There are many social political variables involved which makes the certainty of such a defeatest conclusion premature and unwarranted
