Yo this is for those of you living in the US- what exactly are yous doing for your people who live here? I mean all I hear form you people is Puerto Rico this and Puerto Rico that- "free Puerto Rico make it a state" which one of yous is doing something to free the Puerto Ricans here in the US from the mental colonization and enslavement thats being forced on us, the genocide the gentrification the oppression? I mean, Cono man! I don't want to hear about your organization- I want to hear what you are doing!

I want to see Puerto Rico free with the ablity to live independently or as a state if the needs of the people will be met! And the only way we can force congress to hear what we want is to get our **** together here first. We have no political power. And we never will unless we unite as a people and educate our selves about our selves! If we can get out of the **** hole that we are in now we will be able to gain a voice for ourselves and then we will be able to gain political clout and better influence the decisions the White House makes regarding nuestra patria! But if we continue to live below the poverty level and have one of the highest drop out rates we will never be seen or heard! And all of you rebels without a chance do you realize how many families will be broken up or the dramatic impact that it would have on us Boricuas born here in the states if Puerto Rico lost its US citizenship. I mean name one Carribean country that is completamente independent and above te poverty line. None of them are so what the hell makes you guys think that Puerto Rico will or could have done any better? If she wanted to be free she would have freed herself!

Let me ask you what YOU have done to solve constructively the bad situation that Puerto Rico has been in for 101 years? Simply complaining about the problem, or slandering others who are activists trying to reach a solution is not positive, nor constructive at all.
You seem to reside in Chicago, Humboldt Park to be specific, so you ought to offer us some qualifications that would warrant you asking the readers and posters in this forum to "shutup" and do something. Don't you thinK, Bro?

Thats always what a person who has done nothing at all says- "what have you done?"
Well to let you know, I am a writer and I have rose awarness in Humboldt Park and its surrounding communities about the terrible condition the island is in. I send whatever extra money and cloths I can after I run my food and cloths drives here in Chicago because the Puerto Rican community here in the US is my main concern. Now tell me what have you done or what can you do for a people who have said tie after time that they want to remain the way they are as far as their political status. You guys are here debating, fighting and arguing over the same thing- Statehood and Independence when you can be focussing your frustrations at bettering the conditions of the PR community here which is by far worse than that of the island!

Question

Well Bro you said you collect money, food, and clothing for the needy Puertorriquenos in Chicago and Puerto Rico. Now that is something positive that all of us can understand and approve.
But what I can't still understand is why you showed so much arrogance, and yes indeed nastiness, in telling us all to "Shut Up!" when you entitled this new topic, and thread in this Puerto Rico Bulletin Board Forum. Could you be so kind as to elaborate on why you did that? Inquiring Puerto Rican minds on this forum want to know why you did it, Bro.

BTW, I have posted lots and lots on this forum, and if you get the chance to read "mis postulados", in Spanish and English too, you will have no trouble in finding out what I have done and continue to do for Puerto Rico, as well as Internationally.

ChiRican I wasn't "offended" since I have always exercised my freedom of speech no matter what. It's that I was puzzled that you a Boricua would talk to other Boricuas like that. Our Boricua bros have been oppressed for so long that censoring their right to speak out about their problems doesn't make any sense to me.
You know that it would not be difficult to make the case that you as a Boricua have reached the stage of being "self-hating" of yourself and others who are Boricuas too. Sure you do things to help your brothers, but is that because you really care about them, or because you have a sense of guilt about the way you feel about yourself and them?
BTW there are many Boricuas who do much to help each other. In fact that was a way of life in P.R. for many centuries, even when the Spanish Imperialists were there. How else could the Boricuas have survived all these centuries of oppression if they had not been hospitable, generous, and kind to one another?
It is only since the American Imperialists have taken over that negative changes seem to be noticeable in the way Boricuas are treating each other. And to be honest, Bro, you seem to be a case in point by reflecting that negativity by your initial post in this thread.

Talking

ChiRican,

I don't know who you are, but I must say this, I read your post (the initial one) and you said things that made sense and other things that didn't. I normally don't see eye to eye with EddieR but he's got a point. You came in kinda of "wild" saying things about the people that debate here regarding political issues, I must remind you that this is a "Political" forum and we all have the right to talk about anything we want to include your subject. You see, I don't disagree with you 100 percent, there are issues affecting the Puerto Rican community here in the US and down the island as well, but we should not be dependent on the government to get ahead. I was born and raised in P.R. and currently live in the US and a very successful person. No one and nothing has stop me from moving ahead, not my background, language or anything! I have done a lot for my people and still continue to not only put our name up high but to give a lending hand whenever needed. For you to come here and tell the people what have you done for us lately is an understatement!
There are a lot of hardworking Boricuas everywhere!!!, I mean everywhere, some highly educated and some not, but they don't quit and move ahead, just food for thought. Those who like to sit and not work (I mean, the lazy ones, they are healthy and don't want to work) then those are the one that can't complain.

Chirican, you take care and believe me, there are more good Boricuas than bad ones. Unfortunately, people focus more on the negative than the positive, no one likes to talk about the good and give credit when credit is due.

Have a great week.

Sincerely,
Raul Rosas
