Can someone please explain to me what an "absentee ballot" is and how it works? I don't quite understand it.

If you have to be out of your home state for a temporary period, and you will miss voting on your district elections because of this, you can go to your election district and request to vote while you are out temporarily, and they will send you the ballot by mail. There are several legal and administrative processes that you will have to go through, but in the end it means that you will not miss your hometown elections just because you are temporarily out.

I don't find this very fair though. People that move and are not registered to vote in that county/district are not eligable to decide on the fate of our country's next president, but someone in Isreal, who decided they are there for who knows how long....can vote!

Oh well, I think there are too many legal twists and turns to this election

Have you ever gone in a business trip?

Sometimes in your job they send you a couple of months to a far away place you don't want to be at. Does that mean you lose your right to vote?

That is the case for some 25,000 Floridians in the military, they are far away from home on temporary duty, perhaps even protecting innocent children in Bosnia. They shouldn't lose their right to vote while fulfilling their country's duty.
