Brazilian market draws European airlines
Rio de Janeiro, 03/22/01 - Disposed to grab a slice of the Brazilian commercial aviation market, European airlines are expanding their presence in the country, by means of partnerships, creation of new routes and expanding the number of hours and flights. Brazil is seen by most of the companies as a promising market, both for pleasure and for business tourism. The average rate of occupancy of the flights, exceeding 80%, according to the companies themselves, has guaranteed the investments in the new routes and hours.
The third most popular foreign carrier among Brazilian travelers in trips to Europe, with 10% of market participation, Lufthansa launched three new flights Monday, the first nonstop, linking São Paulo with Munich. Investments in the new route, basically publicity, total US$250,000.
