Cool

Save over 30 billions dollars
Just call your Congressman and tell them
To support a free Puerto Rico without a vote.
If we let it become a state it would cost us more then 3o bilions. Than is to late.

Imaging seeing this all over the country. In billboards, in commercials, in newspaper,
And etc. Do you think this would anger Americans so much that it would
Ask the government to free Puerto Rico once and for all? Tell me what you think.

Mike,

It is a pleasure to hear from you again, it shows that your are doing your homework or some of it. Did you know that you are possibly correct on your statement but do you know how much money does the U.S. government makes off of the island? Do you really think that the U.S. gives anything for nothing? please that would be to easy would it not? I really do not think so... but I do have to admit that your plot could work that is if it really happens. Well I have to run know you take care and again it was a nice to see you around here again.

Mikey:

It is more like: save $10Billions Annually, not 30; check your PR Government Budget facts, you have them wrong. Do you know a little bit of math ? Out of the $39Billion in Puerto Rican Gross National Product (Fiscal Year 1999), only about $20Billion are tied to Puerto Rican Government expenditures (still, that is too much:mad , and roughly half of the $20B comes from Federal Funds.

Do you independentistas know anything about BEING HONEST ABOUT THE FACTS? Probably not ever ...

About the savings if PR would be a republic; you have to tell the American Taxpayer that they will save $10B in direct money to the PR State Government, but that the probable cost in HUMAN terms of forcing independence on 97% of the Puerto Ricans living in PR would be around $50Billion yearly during transition to Republic status.

Think about it, 2 million Puerto Ricans will probably take their money out of the bank and leave PR forever. If 1 million of them become a burden to the American Taxpayer and they require social services for the next 20 years, at a $25000 per year to support each of the REFUGEES it would cost $50Billion per year to support all these people [and I haven't factored in COLA tied to the inflation rates].

So your billboard should say:

SAVE $10BILLION PER YEAR, AND SPEND $50BILLION PER YEAR PLUS COSTS OF LIVING ALLOWANCE: SUPPORT PUERTO RICAN INDEPENDENCE .

To El_Criollo

Well, I have to say you are kind of funny guy. But the true is the in the end US will save money and once and for all Puerto Rico could fight for her own future. We have it too easy. As long as we have it to easy nothing would change. And by this I mean even statehood. Remember Puerto Rico don't want statehood either.
