Papo,
I agree with you that in the US there is no tolerance for non English speaking people. When I came to the US from Puerto Rico, They placed me in a bad class only because I came from Puerto Rico. They had not spoken to me only to my parents who had limited English speaking skills. I had studied in a private school and knew English. After a couple of weeks in this "slow" class, my Puerto Rican temper kicked in and I revelled. I went to the guidance office and started arguing with them for placing me in this class. They looked at me as if I had two heads. They said, "you speak English" I told them that there happened to be many people in Puerto Rico that speak English. Ignorance is what these people were Pablo. We cannot let it bother us. We have to show that they are beneath us because of there ignorance. I think my experiences as a young person moving into the US actually made me stronger. Anytime they tried to kick me I became stronger. Therefore, I feel that even if they can't accept us as Americans, it is there lost because the day will come when we will show them that we are Puerto Ricans and are Independent.
