To me BOTH are important.
and ![]() After all, our Puerto Rican flag has the same colors and color sequences as the US Flag, and it was created after it, so it is a daughter flag .

Actually, it does not have the exact color sequences as the USA flag. The ORIGINAL PR flag was created in 1895, with a light blue sequence in the triangle, to look like the CUBAN flag, not the USA. The Cuban flag was made to look like the USA, we were following the influence of Cuba, not the USA DIRECTLY, to make our flag look like theirs, but we obviouly had to switch the colors, lol. When the commonwealth was formed in 1952, the outlawed Puerto Rican flag became the official flag of the the ELA, but with a darker blue in the triangle to look like the USA flag so not to be mistaken for the illegal one.
Just some info you would like to know.Same feelings as you, I have no prejudice from neither.

I love all the flags of the PR towns, but the Lares one is the most patriotic, because the Nationalists used it as their own, and probably if we were an independent nation from their actions, all of Puerto Rico would of been officially under that flag.

I agree with all of you, both flags are important and hold importance to the Puerto Rican people.
Hombre, You are correct concerning the history of The Puerto Rican Flag. The pride we feel concerning our Puerto Rican flag is evident everywhere. We see cars with little flags, And of course we have our Singers like Marc Anthony bring our flag into his performance and emit the pride and love he feels for our Isla by holding the flag and kissing it. The pride we feel for our American Flag is evident in our military. Our Puerto Rican men fight and defend this country with as much love and pride as they would for Puerto Rico. They represent the American Flag when they are out on duty. They carry that pride with them whereever they go as much as they do for the Puerto Rican Flag. |
