I can go on... :-) these characters are a little more lively than the ones you mentioned previously. I can go into detail of other individuals that I know of which include family members who were "blacklisted" years ago because of their views. In any case, I dont have to prove my heart to you or anyone just cause you feel your an "independentista de verdad." I suggest you seriously consider getting off the high horse for at least a while cause you facilitate the age old tactic of divide and conquer. Later, my friend> I have some pollo, arroz blanco con habichuelas blancas, ensalada, y tostones to attend to.
[i]Phidawg, you're an ignorant fool and a poor example of both man, a Puerto Rican, as well as an Independentista. Es_Vedra was simply trying to provide you with the knowledge and information that is pretty basic and simlpe and commonly known amongst not just Independentistas but Puerto Ricans in general. You are a low class uneducated sorry example of a Puerto Rican for someone who says their "Puerto Rican History Lessons" came from a list of Salseros. So ignorant indeed, at the very least if you new anything at all "for real" (because you don't know jack) you would have atleast said Plena y Bomba insted because atleast in the lyrics of this "true and original" Puerto Rican music they sing about the history of slavery and the Caña era and many other histroy's of Puerto Rico. To you being Puerto Rican is cooking rice and beans and just listening to salsa, sorry, but hopefully when you either grow up or finally educate your ignorant mind you will realize being Puerto Rican is more than wearing P.R. beads and waving around a flag and greeting "Independencia". And coming from someone as ignorant as you I don't know how you can call yourself an Independentista and proclaim Independence when you don't even know anything about it. How can you be for something truely and not know anything about it. That's like saying you love a woman and you don't even know her name. Wake up and stop dreaming of being something that you obviously just showed you're not. To hear a person say they learned their Puerto Rican History from salsa songs is one of the most outrageous and down right most ignorant things I've ever heard in my many years, furthermore it's also an insult to Puerto Rican culture and who we are as a people, why? To say that our history is so simple and short that one can just sit back turn the radio on listen to a couple of songs and then they'll know Puerto Rican history, no I'm sorry but for that reason you're more of an ignorant person than one can ever imagine, I mean you in stating those words have displayed an unprecidented amount of ignorance here at puertorico.com. I am a graduate of the University of Puerto Rico and studied for many years the History, Culture, and Heritage of Puerto Rico, and for one to say he learned his from salsa music is completely ubsurd. I bet you don't even know your history well on that either.

Basically it all comes down to a true everyday Statehooder would know who figures like Barbosa and Rossello are, a true Autonomist would know who Sila Maria Calderon is (I hope you have the inteligence atleast to know what an autonomist is for the very least who is the governer of Puerto Rico) and a true everyday Independentista would know who Maria de Lourdes Santiago is as well as Ruben Berrios and Juan Mari Bras.

In closing to go and state an ignorant comment such as you stated that that list of salseros is a more lively list than than the names Es_Vedra is just another example of your lack of inteligence. Those salsa singers are adored , yes, in my book, but were talking about individuals here that spent there money on luxuries for themselves, woman, and sadly alcohol and drugs, they did nothing much for the Puerto Rican population of Puerto Rico as Maria de Lourdes Santiago has done and is doing at this very momment fighting for the people of Piñones, I bet you dont even know where that is at, y despues tu te atreves bajar el respeto a alguien que quiso educarte de cosas que uno debe saber.

No one here has a problem with someone not knowing something or wanting to learn something that what people like you come for, to be educated, atleast have the respect that there are people here who want to give you and provide you that knowledge and educacion. Leticia_g is a moderator and knows me very well here at puertorico.com and the cultural contributions I have made to this website. She knows from reading threads in openboard from everything from the taino to poetry I have tried to educate many Puerto Ricans here, I have know problem with that and with one wanting to learn, Leticia_g knows that of me. But when one brings this mentality of yours that Puerto Rican history can be learned from salsa songs, then you insult 2 female patriots, Maria by lowering her in comparison to salsa singers and saying their more (quote) "lively", if that's so then why are you even asking who she is if you don't feel she's lively. Then you go and call Es_Vedra "jerky", did she call you any names? NO, so why did you have to go and make a DIRECT INSULT TOWARDS her. She was just speaking on how she merely couldn't understand how someone couldn't know who that was, it baffled her becasue she is not familiar the lack of knowledge of Puerto Rican politics that in many cases occidental decendents of Puerto Ricans like you posses.

As a female she won't argue with you, like the majority of the female members here at puertorico.com, but I will and senior members like Suki, Yautiawoman, Leticia_g, and Conciencia all know that I will defend a woman here who is attacked by slime like you.

GROW UP AND/OR EDUCATE YOURSELF!!!

IGNORANCE IS A POISON AND KNOWLEDGE IS THE NOURISH!!!

No argument whatsoever.

Thats exactly what I am trying to do. But some uppity people here feel they can look down on their noses instead of educating someone. Instead of something intelligent to say, she had insults. What a fallacy! Knowledge has been replaced by insults here in this forum. Now that her feelings were hurt she wants to talk about shes a lady? Puhleese. If any of you have a program that deciphers user code that tracks male or female gender, let me get a copy!

The only dumb question is one that isnt asked. Will I apologize for not being born in PR? NO! Will I apologize for not responding in spanish? NO! Will I apologize for being a neophyte is island politics? NO! As for being a "callejero"... don't make me laugh. Come with a better one...

Once again the question remains:

Why is Maria Lourdes de Santiago such a hot ticket? Will I be answered with insults or what? Or am I wasting my time here at PuertoRico.com?

[i]The only fallacy here is you Phidawg, everything was just fine and well until you came with your ignorance here. You are the only between Es_Vedra and yourself who through a DIRECT INSULT, she called you no names, you called her a name. You've displayed no inteligence here, for the least atleast she was trying to give the history and stated some important things you should know, you on the other hand are still not to have displayed any form of intelectual inteligence that is derived from something other than salsa songs. You insult her, then I will insult you.

For the third time Phidawg you fool it's "MARÍA DE LOURDES SANTIAGO"
not María Lourdes de Santigo

Saludos cordiales,

Vedra

I once called the radio station because there was somebody of la FANIA. I told him thanks to them our cultural self-esteem is high. My point is that the foundation of our realities is based on the government, their sacrifices,
and courage. Why did we have the U.S. passport if we did not vote on it? The institutions that conditioned our people or us are a important factor of who we are.

¡Bye!

Saludos cordiales,

Vedra

I can go on... :-) these characters are a little more lively than the ones you mentioned previously. I can go into details about salseros, son buena gente and I have a few of my favorites, que tal de Gilberto Monroig "...que estoy en Puerto Rico" cuando escucho su voz.

No, velda?
