Having a chat will be terrible for many users.

The chat sometimes is limited to 255 characters and many users can't get a point across without posting a whole book.

Plus the real time will make it difficult to find long articles to cut and paste.

I think what EL_BORICUA meant was a chatroom where we can just converse friendly topics, not as huge and dramatic as we do here. Wow, we don't need to expand the chaos, please.
