I was thinking of people in general. How it is amazing that some people go about their life with as little effort as possible and everything seems to go their way; yet there are those, that anything they touch turns to stone. How can it be? In this beautiful world we live in, how can we sit and watch someone suffer, yet know that we are happy and not doing anything to ease that individuals pain. How can a rich person go around spending money with no thought of tomorrow when his brother might be hungry and just hoping for a few scrapes to feed himself and his family.
What makes one person born into a life of pleasure while another one born into a life of pain? How can you have two children, yet they can be destine to totally different futures, yet these two children were raised totally the same? One child will be surrounded by wealth and the other poverty, yet which one is truly happy? Wealth does not always give us happiness, it can't buy love, just someone to make love with. Wealth won't give you peace of mind, yet it can keep your mind at ease because you don't have to worry about a meager penny. Philosophically speaking, we are capable of achieving what ever we set our mind to. Yet even if obsticles are present, the determine person can overcome them. The person that doesnot is a faithless person. Where are our barriers, we are the one that sets them not society. Society presents barriers by there rules and regulations just as religions do, we as individuals have the control over them, we decide if we want to follow them or not. Politically speaking we set our barriers also. We don't achieve independence or statehood for that matter because we as individuals and as a group aren't determine enough to pursue it. We can blame everyone, but if we learned from our masters, that if we held hands as a family and for once unite in any issue, we will be able to overcome anything and achieve anything. All we have to do is desire it enough and have the guts to say, enough is enough, let unite and show them what we can do. |

When I first read this post (must have been around the same time when it was posted), I wanted so much to respond at the time, but could not gather the words to voice my opinion and feelings on this topic, so here goes:
It breaks my heart to see people suffer. From my view, I have often wondered why, kind and unselfish people suffer more than someone who may not have any regard or sympathy for human life. These individuals seem to go through life without a care. Why are there people in this world who would find it comfortable to gain pleasure from using and abusing those who are already suffering? I've often found myself pondering over this because of past experiences and seeing others suffer. In my community, why are there so many people who are homeless and hungry (especially the children and the elderly)? I know that only God can answer this question. Then again, do these people continue to suffer and wait for the after-life to enjoy of life of non-suffering and comfort? I know that I'll find myself going around in circles trying to ask this question. I don't have an answer. Ysa |

I know what you mean, it is heartbreaking to see people suffer. Yet there are many that prey on the weak. Take advantage of people when they are going through hard times instead of lending a hand and not expecting anything in return. That is my biggest problem to a fault. My husband always would argue with me about it, I would always help people even if they did me wrong. I just couldn't see them suffer. The way I see it, if I can help someone worst off than myself, that will make me feel good because I feel I have done a good deed. I never look back at what the person did to me even though I won't forget that easily.
Life at times is unjust. You can have two people with the same background and life style and yet one will suffer profusely, the other will have everything hand over. Why? I am sure God has his reasons, we cannot question them just accept them as they are. We must realize that difficult times are what makes us stronger, more accepting and more capable of understanding. My thoughts are that if your load becomes too heavy to handle, ask God to help you carry it. He will, because he is all giving and loves us, all we have to do is have enough faith. |

I was thinking about what you said regarding prayer. I agree that when the load becomes heavy, all you have to do is pray. I remember sitting in Church one Sunday, when the minister stated, "God never gives us more than we can handle." So, to me, does that mean that if my neighbor to the left of me has an unspeakable suffering through MY eyes, he IS capable of handling that situation. That which I can handle, may be too overbearing for the next person? Like you mentioned, God does have his reasons. I can certain attest to this, for even though I've seen my share of hardships, I still remained just as kind and pleasant. Never wishing any ill-will on anyone. Yes, I have become stronger.

Ysa, The comment you made about "God never gives us more than we can handle" is something that someone told me. I was so frustrated one day with everything going wrong, they made that comment to me and that day I yelled at God, I told him, "Listen to me, I had enough if you think I can handle it then you are wrong because I need a break". lol I can laugh about it now, however it seems that he listened to me and he lightened the load a little, but he also showed me solutions, because all of a sudden the load didn't seem that bad, I figured I could deal with it. I also think that I crave challenges and always seem to be attracted to people that I can help in one way or another. I love it and I think that is what God wants me to do. God Bless you! |

Lety,
I find it rather disturbing myself that most selfish, unwilling, hostile, and cold beings get things to go their way. It is sad, but one thing I try to remember is that their day will come. When their time is "up" here on this beautiful earth, they will have a judgement day. God will decide whether they are worthy to enter the gates of heaven. It is not for us to judge these somewhat foul human beings. People who thrive on wealth and riches while their brother, neighbor, daughter lay in agony are only in for a rude awakening once the day of judgement approaches them.
This is how I try to look at this matter.

Judgement Day!
I feel that God will give everyone all the chances he can for them to show repentence. He doesn't want to turn his back on anyone, he want to give everyone the opportunity to correct themselves. Our experiences whether good or bad are helping us to find the road for an eternal life. At times when things are tough, I do sit like many people and look at people that have it easy, however, thank God! I don't sit too long and feel sorry for myself, instead, I try to focus on solutions, if I feel weak, I turn to God, for guidance and strength. He's always there for me. Much love! |
