Big Ben Should have got 30 GAMES!
Greetings,
The suspensions form Friday's fight were definitely too harsh period. Would you slap a Pit Bull after a dog fight? Well of corse not! Ron Artest despite his past record reacted off of an already short fuse. After emotions were heightened from the altercation with Ben Wallace Ron showed restraint though I believe he did want to attack Wallace but wanted to show the world that he didn't start this fight (between him and Ben Wallace) and he can show self control despite his reputation. After the fan who was totally out of line crossed the line of human respect Ron's fuse was set off because his emotions, testosterone were already at an all time high which was the slapping a Pit Bull! Ron reacted like anyone at any job in any position would have reacted if they were blatantly disrespected for no reason at all. Fight or Flight are the two human characteristics we respond to when we feel threatened. Ron Artest did not become an NBA All-Star from running and that same attitude and passion is what drove him into the stands. No it was not okay to do but neither, never is it okay to provoke anyone and not expect repercussions. If Ron did not do anything then the fan would have been kicked out of the arena and back the next game even more disrespectful. If any thing Ron set the standard where fans now will be held even more accountable for their action at not just pro but all athletic events.
Ben Wallace should have been suspended just as long as O'neal and Jackson because if he would have taken their butt kicking like a real man then none of this would have happened. But now we really know that under that afro that is out of control is a man that is emotionally inexperienced in taking a loss graciously and Ben knew deep down inside that the same thing was going to happen in the playoffs this year a series lost to Indiana. Jackson and O'neal's suspensions were some what justified but Ben Wallace should have received at least 30 games like Jackson and O'neal (25) for starting and continuing to try to attack Artest after he already got his choke push.
The only positive is that Freddy Jones, will get a chance to develop and shine which is a positive. Freddy could have got lost in the shuffle of the Pacers rotation but now in his contract year has a chance to show that he in the NBA to stay.
To truly have a opinion on this subject you have to have been an athlete or you won't know what adrenaline combined with competition will do to the human phys.
Peace Be Unto All,
