Vueltas por Puerto Rico....wmv [09:43]
My sister came to see me, unfortunately it was raining all weekend, but that didn't stop us girls, no way:) We started in Arecibo and ended up in Mayaguez, our destination was Boqueron...we made it and had a wonderful time doing so...we encountered a few towns: Lares, San German, the most beautifullest town, saw the most creepiest house full of children's bed...creeeeeepy and fog like ain't ge no tomorrow...fun and games...Oh and ate some local ice cream in Lares, mines tasted funky (stewed chicken and rice...yuuuuky) but the arroz con dulce...yummmy:) Hope you have fun....:) by the way...my music sucks in this video, am learning:)

Travel San Juan, Puerto Rico: Shops on Calle Fortaleza [02:14]
I started the morning off early with a walk through the extensive grounds of the Embassy Suites / Golden Sands resort in Dorado, and around mid-day we made our way into the Puerto Rican capital -- San Juan. Old San Juan is a beautifully restored colonial city and was founded in 1521. We parked our vehicle close to the Puerto Rican Capitol and started walking west towards Old San Juan past Plaza Colon which features a statue of Christopher Columbus. After my initial explorations of the popular shopping street Calle Fortaleza I discovered the Governor's Mansion (la Fortaleza) where two local policemen enlightened me about the significance of this building. Then I came across the Parque de las Palomas where hundreds of pigeons swarm the tourists who feed them. Walking north I explored the Atlantic waterfront, the Old San Juan Cemetery and one of San Juan's most imposing fortifications: Fort San Felipe del Morro, begun in 1539, which today is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. I even hopped on the free open-air tourist trolley to get a more comprehensive view of Old San Juan and caught a nice sunset, looking south over the Bay of San Juan.

Arecibo, Puerto Rico: Main square in the rain [01:15]
One of the things I love about travel is to discover local places that are not necessarily frequented by tourists. We started the day by driving west from Dorado into the coastal town of Arecibo which was settled in 1556. Caught in a downpour, we watched the goings-on on the main square ducked underneath a balcony. This town was definitely not a tourist town, and some of the rather run-down buildings away from the main square attested to that. When we were trying to find our way out of town ...
