When Moon Rover First Washed Up In Front of Our House during 2008 Hurricane [03:58]
The Day Moon Rover and Green Iguana Washed Up In Front of Our House 2008. Moon Rover washed up in front of our gate after the Hurricane of 2008 in Puerto Rico. He was wet and hungry. Nobody wanted him. So my father and I took the little doggie in and he lived happily ever after. He also showed up with a giant iguana (who came from the park nearby, and later went back). Poor little Rover found himself a home. He's happy now living with us.
Vieques, Puerto Rico - A Caribbean Paradise [07:29]
There is a Paradise in the Caribbean called Vieques. This beautiful island is part of Puerto Rico. The main languages are spanish and english. The currency is the US Dollar and the gratuity is 18%. Tap water is fresh, clean and drinkable. Satellite TV and internet friendly. To get there, you can head North East from the SJU international airport, and take a 45 minute ride to the José Aponte de la Torre Airport in Ceiba (An Aprox. 10 minutes flight), or via Ferry (Aprox. 1 hour) from Fajardo. Once you get to Vieques you must rent a car (SUV preferable) to get around. A great part of this Island was once occupied by the US Armed Forces. But, with the perseverance of the local residents, and through civil disobedience they forced the US Armed Forces to leave the island. Now, the pristine turquoise beaches are a paradise for travelers. There is one mayor hotel (Starwood's W Retreat & Spa) and plenty of guest houses to choose from. I personally recommend Cookies Paradise, located at the top of the mountain with breathtaking views. The culinary experience is overwhelming with a daily catch available at almost every other restaurant. Downtown (Isabel II) is located at the northern part of the island and most of the secluded beaches stretch from the north east to the southern coastline. The Esperanza Boardwalk is located at the south with plenty of restaurants and souvenir shops to choose from. Don't forget to visit the bioluminescent Bay in a kayak tour, it's a once in a ...
Travel San Juan, Puerto Rico: 2 young guys play some great music [01:44]
On this gorgeous Saturday (no rain, finally) we took coastal highway 165 into San Juan from Dorado, a beautiful drive along the waterfront without any traffic whatsoever. We first explored a little stretch of land called "Isla de Cabras" (Goats Island) which is a tiny island strategically located at the entrance of San Juan Bay. Its historically significant position is evidenced by a fortification called "El Cañuelo" which is not accessible to visitors. The island was even used as a leper colony in the late 1800s. From there we drove back past the main power station and the Bacardi Rum factory to the Ferry Terminal in Cataño where we took a ferry across the bay into Old San Juan. I rediscovered many of the places I had already visited earlier, including the fortress San Felipe del Morro and the adjacent San Juan Cemetery. I was enchanted by the narrow, cobble-stoned streets with their brightly coloured stuccoed houses. In the courtyard of the historic building "El Cuartel de Ballaja" I came across a major festival for guitarists who play the local "cuarto" guitar, and two teenage boys played a little Spanish song for me on this unique instrument. I even caught images of a local wedding right in front of the Cathedral of San Juan. At dusk the Christmas lights on the Plaza de Armas and along the Calle Fortaleza came to life. As the sun was going down I positioned myself on the Plaza de la Rogativa to catch the sunset and then walked through the Puerta de San Juan for a ...
