In most other Spanish-speaking countries, when you ask for a PIRAGUA, you get a... canoe. Not in Puerto Rico, though! If you order a "piragua" in Puerto Rico, you will be presented with a great antidote for the Puerto Rican's sun. On the island, "piragua" is a snow cone similar to those illustrated here - enjoying the mid-day ritual of a glass of Piragua, a tasty mix of ice and tropical fruit syrups.

Through The Puerto Rican Countryside [43:44]
From Ponce, a city centrally located on the southern coast of Puerto Rico, we headed weston on PR-2 towards Sabana Grande. From Sabana Grande we headed north on PR-120 through the Bosque Estatal De Maricao Natural Preserve. This trek took us from the southern coast of Puerto Rico, straight through the middle of the country, and up to the northern coast town of Arecibo. These roads are narrow, littered with blind curves and dropoffs. If you decide to do this yourself, make sure that you're careful - and in a 4x4 vehicle. The climb is tough on the engine and brakes. our camera ran out of storage space after about an hour; this entire trip took us a little over four hours. That's saying something, as the entire country is only 45 miles from coast to coast.
