Condado beach at sunset - San Juan, Puerto Rico (Tuesday evening, 01.03.2012) [00:39]
If you're staying in San Juan, there's a good chance you'll never venture farther than Condado Beach. For many sun lovers, that's just fine. Condado is framed by a string of high-rise hotels and resort complexes, plus its ground-zero for water sports and beach bars in Greater San Juan. Travelers say you won't be disappointed with Condado, as long as you recognize it's more of a city beach. According to a Virtual Tourist traveler, San Juan beaches like Condado are "convenient solutions to relax and enjoy on a minor but still-decent tone the Caribbean sun and the ocean." Condado Beach is open from dawn to dusk.

Barefoot Traveler Rooms Guesthouse [03:39]
For our first visit to Puerto Rico I am happy to say that we somehow stumbled on probably the most ideal location, the Barefoot Travelers Rooms Guesthouse. I rarely ever give any service oriented establishment the highest rating across the board, but the folks at BT really earned it. The location is ideal for quick adventures and they do a great job making you feel very welcome in their home. They are avid Hang Gliders although that was not our purpose for being there. We wanted to Snorkel, Kayak and travel into El Yunque. All of which were far beyond my expectations. The water near Monkey Island was great the day we were there. Of course it can have it's off days but that is to be expected. Keishya and Bob were friendly from the start, they directed us to the local eateries and grocery store. We went out one night and cooked in the community kitchen the next. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The opportunity to meet new people is high because you stay in close proximity in the down stairs of their home. There are plenty of amenities, but the natural setting all around did not permit us to stay in doors more than we needed to for sleep and food. From a travelers perspective this place wins big in the following: Off the beaten path location Knowledgeable and Very friendly owners...They are friends with local farmers, restaurant owners, and just about any other person you may need to know while you are there. Great Location for a getaway, spectacular scenery from the ...

Vieques, Puerto Rico - A Caribbean Paradise [07:29]
There is a Paradise in the Caribbean called Vieques. This beautiful island is part of Puerto Rico. The main languages are spanish and english. The currency is the US Dollar and the gratuity is 18%. Tap water is fresh, clean and drinkable. Satellite TV and internet friendly. To get there, you can head North East from the SJU international airport, and take a 45 minute ride to the José Aponte de la Torre Airport in Ceiba (An Aprox. 10 minutes flight), or via Ferry (Aprox. 1 hour) from Fajardo. Once you get to Vieques you must rent a car (SUV preferable) to get around. A great part of this Island was once occupied by the US Armed Forces. But, with the perseverance of the local residents, and through civil disobedience they forced the US Armed Forces to leave the island. Now, the pristine turquoise beaches are a paradise for travelers. There is one mayor hotel (Starwood's W Retreat & Spa) and plenty of guest houses to choose from. I personally recommend Cookies Paradise, located at the top of the mountain with breathtaking views. The culinary experience is overwhelming with a daily catch available at almost every other restaurant. Downtown (Isabel II) is located at the northern part of the island and most of the secluded beaches stretch from the north east to the southern coastline. The Esperanza Boardwalk is located at the south with plenty of restaurants and souvenir shops to choose from. Don't forget to visit the bioluminescent Bay in a kayak tour, it's a once in a ...
