Adrenalina Skateboard Marathon

A new and exciting event will be taking place in four different locations this year, allowing skateboarders to show off their talents and endurance. The first round will be held in New York City on 30 July, followed by San Juan (Puerto Rico) on 28 August, Plano (Texas) on 16 October and at Hallendale Beach (Florida) on 5 November 2011. Not only will spectators be able to enjoy awesome skateboarding action, but great entertainment and expos after the event. The Adrenalina Skateboard Marathon in Puerto Rico will begin at Sixto Escobar Stadium.

Each city will have its own course worked out, and in San Juan the marathon will consist of eight laps beginning at the stadium, moving down the high road that takes skateboarders past the picturesque beaches of the city, and from there, contenders will skate through Plaza Colon. The course then takes the skateboarders past the Puerto Rico Olympic Committee building and then back to the Sixto Escobar Stadium, where the round point is located inside the parking lot of the stadium. Each skateboarder’s marathon will conclude at this round point, after they have completed their eight laps. The athlete who performs the best will be rewarded with $15 000. The Adrenalina Skateboard Marathon, which is 26.3 miles in length, is not only to promote skateboarding as a sport, but to promote a healthy lifestyle and fitness. A day license will be required for skateboarders to participate and with the live music, stores and demos given by extreme sport enthusiasts, participants and spectators can look forward to a wonderful day of fun and excitement.

A camera will be located at each finish line as a back up to the timing system, to ensure each finish is documented accurately. Due to the distance of the course, aid stations will be strategically located along the route, with medical staff being located at the starting point of the marathon. Aid stations will also have endurance formula and water available for the athletes and portable ablutions will also be set up along the course. The Adrenalina Skateboard Marathon will push skateboarders to their limits and test their endurance, and to encourage the younger generation, a mini marathon will be available for children to enjoy. It is not only an event to promote fitness, but a day that every one of all ages can enjoy.
