Celebrity Races For Charity
Better known for her roles in the television hit series “Without a Trace” and movie performances, such as in “Rush Hour 2”, Roselyn Sanchez has taken on many roles in her life. She is also a known philanthropist, animal rights activist and has been named as one of the sexiest women by Maxim Magazine. But one of her most challenging roles has come to life in aid of charity, where she will be competing in a triathlon in Puerto Rico to raise funds for the San Jorge Children’s Foundation and for the Casa Cuna of San Juan.
The San Jorge Children’s Foundation is an initiative that was founded by the San Jorge Children’s Hospital in 1995. It is a non-profit organization and aids children from disadvantaged families who desperately require treatment and surgeries. Thousands of plastic surgery operations have been done by the foundation to correct congenital malformations. This foundation plays a vital role in the community and in the lives of these children. The Casa Cuna of San Juan is significant to the lives of children as well, as they provide a safe and loving environment for children who have suffered abuse and abandonment. Staff at the facility work towards restoring the physical and mental of the children in their care. The facility takes in children between the ages of 0 – 3 years old. Children at the Casa Cuna of San Juan are then available for adoption or placement with a loving family.
Recognizing the importance of what these two organizations do, actress Roselyn Sanchez has trained for the Triathlon for Life, which will take place on the 7th of March 2010 in Puerto Rico. Sponsors for the event include the La Concha Hotel, Coca-Cola, Xterra Wetsuits, Microsoft and Heineken. As the triathlon consists of different stages and a relay event, the Triathlon for Life will be held in Old San Juan, in Condado and in the Jaime Benitez National Park. Not only will this be the first fundraising triathlon in Puerto Rico, but it will also be the first triathlon that Roselyn Sanchez will be participating in. If you are unable to compete, lend your support to the athletes and to this worthy cause.
