Culebra is a small island located 17 miles off the east coast of Puerto Rico’s main island.

Visiting Culebra should be on your to-do list when vacationing in Puerto Rico, and finding the right place to stay is very important. 

I have visited Culebra many times so I can tell you the best places and areas to stay in.

In this article, I will cover the 6 best areas and places to stay in Culebra, Puerto Rico:

 

1. Playa Flamenco

Playa Flamenco is a public beach located north of Culebra Island.

This arc-shaped beach is considered one of the top three beaches in the world. It’s also one of the most popular beaches to visit for tourists and locals alike.

Flamenco Beach has been voted one of the most beautiful beaches in the world multiple times.

Flamenco Beach is surrounded by stunning cays which makes it perfect for snorkeling and diving.

There are many kiosks near Flamenco Beach where you can taste refreshing cocktails and Puerto Rican food.

There are also many snorkeling and diving tours you can book to make the most out of your visit.

Flamenco Beach is the only place you can legally camp in Culebra.

2. Zoní Beach

Playa Zoní is located on the northeastern coast of Culebra.

Zoní Beach is perfect for couples and people looking for privacy on their vacation.

Known as the shy sister of Flamenco given its secluded nature. This beach is perfect for a romantic getaway.

During spring you may come across leatherback turtle’s nests so please be careful when walking.

Unlike Flamenco Beach, Playa Zoní doesn’t have amenities like bathrooms and showers.

3. Ensenada Honda (Deep Cove)

Ensenada Honda is the largest inlet and the safest harbor of Culebra.

This area is perfect for people who enjoy marine life.

If you love to explore nature, this place is for you. Visit the coastal mangrove forest of Ensenada Honda.

You can also book a boat or a kayak tour to enjoy the perfect day in the ocean.

Make sure to visit the Culebra Historic Museum located only 3 miles from Ensenada Honda.

There are many areas you can visit in Playa Sardinas like Playa de Cascajo and Lobinas Lagoon.

This area is located in the south of the island, close to Ensenada Honda harbor.

This area is full of restaurants where you will find the most delicious cuisine on the island.

Rent a golf car and visit the beaches around, like Playa Mosquito, and explore the wildlife in Playa Manzanilla.

6. Playa Tamarindo

Playa Tamarindo is located only miles from the ferry terminal.

This is a very popular area in Culebra because it is very close to the entry point of the island.

Visit Playa Tamarindo and enjoy water sports like paddle boarding, kayaking, and snorkeling.

I highly recommend that you visit for at least a couple of days during your next trip to Puerto Rico.
