Editorial policy
How we write, check and correct the guides, news and data on PuertoRico.com.
Independence
PuertoRico.com is an independent publisher. We are not affiliated with the Government of Puerto Rico or any government agency.
Guides and tools are written by our team. News Desk stories are compiled from named outlets and official sources; every claim is cited and linked out to the original.
StandardsWhat we commit to
- No invented numbers. Every figure comes from a named source. If a source is down or unclear, we say so instead of guessing.
- Show the source and the time. Live figures carry their source and timestamp. The sources & methodology page lists every feed we use.
- Link out. We publish our own writing and headlines, not other outlets’ full articles, and we link to the original story.
- Safety first. For hurricanes, surf, earthquakes and emergencies we point to the official agencies. This site is not a warning system.
- Original work. Guides and tools are written in our own words. We do not scrape or spin other sites’ copy.
- Directory honesty. Directory listings that lack a real About stay
noindexuntil they are enriched or claimed by the business. Claimed listings are free for the owner to manage.
How we fix mistakes
We correct factual errors openly. When a guide or tool is wrong, we update the page and note the change on the page or in its “Updated” line when the change is material.
To report an error, email jose@puertorico.com with the URL and what should change. We aim to review reports within a few business days.
LanguagesEnglish and Spanish
The site publishes in English and Spanish. When both editions exist, each is written for that language (not a raw machine dump). Hreflang pairs point readers to the matching edition.
PeopleWriters and ownership
Meet the writers on the About page. Founder: Jordan Fried. News Desk and guides list bylines where a person wrote the piece.
