Updates

Update, Oct 28, 9:59 AM AST

New Puerto Rican outlets add Serrano's age, longer quotes, June press conference comments and her BWAA award.

INFO7 and El Nuevo Día reported that Serrano, 38, has been considering retirement for two years but delayed it to tie Christy Martin's 32-knockout record in May by stopping Cheyenne Hanson in the second round. INFO7 reported she stated on June 3 at a Puerto Rico press conference that retirement was coming "soon" and would be on the island.

Metro Puerto Rico reported that tickets go on sale Tuesday, Nov. 3 at noon via Ticketera and that a press conference will be held that day at 6:30 p.m. at Distrito T-Mobile. It lists Serrano's record as 50-4-1 with 32 KOs and notes she is the first undisputed Puerto Rican champion, was named 2023 Boxer of the Year by the BWAA, Sports Illustrated and Boxing Scene, and currently holds WBO, WBA and The Ring featherweight titles. Metro Puerto Rico reported that Falzon holds NSW, WBC Asia, WBA Asia and WBA Oceania titles.

The new reports repeat that the fight will be 12 three-minute rounds, broadcast on DAZN, and that Serrano will continue advocating for women's boxing equality and pay after retirement. INFO7 and El Nuevo Día gave her record as 50-1-4 while Metro Puerto Rico listed 50-4-1; none contradict prior reporting.

Update, Oct 28, 8:32 AM AST

New reports from MiddleEasy and Sky Sports add Serrano's and MVP's direct statements, ticket and press conference details, and background on her recent fights.

MiddleEasy reported that Most Valuable Promotions announced the fight on October 28, 2026, listing Serrano at 50-4-1 with 32 knockouts and confirming the 12 three-minute rounds at 126 pounds. MiddleEasy reported that tickets go on sale November 3 at noon AST with a kickoff press conference at 6:30 p.m. AST at DISTRITO T-Mobile in San Juan. It also noted that her most recent title defense in August was over 12 two-minute rounds while the retirement bout will use three-minute rounds.

Sky Sports published a longer statement from Serrano in which she said "To close my career at home in Puerto Rico, in front of the people who have supported me from the beginning, means everything." Sky Sports reported that MVP founders Nakisa Bidarian and Jake Paul called her "the MOAT" and credited her with changing women's boxing. The outlet reiterated her advocacy for equal rules and her rivalry with Katie Taylor.

Both new sources align with the earlier record of the January 9, 2027 date, opponent, venue and broadcast on DAZN; they do not contradict the original WAPA or El Vocero reporting.

Announcement and Final Bout

Puerto Rican boxer Amanda Serrano announced her retirement from professional boxing on Wednesday with a final fight scheduled for Jan. 9, 2027 at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico José Miguel Agrelot in San Juan. Her promoter Most Valuable Promotions confirmed the details, according to El Vocero.

Serrano posted on Instagram that the event will be called "The Last Walk" and will be carried live on DAZN. She will defend her unified World Boxing Organization and World Boxing Association featherweight titles. El Vocero reported that Falzon holds a 12-2 record with seven knockouts and is ranked fourth among WBA challengers at 126 pounds.

Serrano's Record and Goals

WAPA reported that Serrano holds a professional record of 50-4-1 and is currently a double champion with the WBO and WBA. El Vocero gave her record as 50-1-4 with 32 knockouts. Both outlets noted that she hopes to set a new women's record with a 33rd knockout in her final fight. El Vocero reported that she tied Christy Martin's mark of 32 knockouts in May and earned her 50th win in August.

The boxer is a seven-division world champion, a feat recognized by Guinness World Records, according to El Vocero. The outlet also reported that in 2023 she became the first Puerto Rican woman to unify the four major world titles in a single division.

Legacy and Future Plans

El Vocero reported that Serrano has fought for equal treatment in women's boxing, including 12-round bouts of three minutes per round. She vacated a World Boxing Council title in 2023 over the organization's refusal to sanction that format for women. The outlet quoted her saying she will continue advocating for the next generation after retiring.

According to El Vocero, Serrano's rivalry with Ireland's Katie Taylor included the first women's bout to headline Madison Square Garden in 2022 and a trilogy that concluded in 2025. Her promotional contract with Most Valuable Promotions will continue for life after she hangs up her gloves.

Where the sources differ

All sources (WAPA, El Vocero, MiddleEasy, Sky Sports, INFO7, El Nuevo Día, Metro Puerto Rico) agree on the Jan. 9, 2027 date, opponent Skye Falzon, 12 three-minute rounds, Coliseo de Puerto Rico venue, "The Last Walk" name and DAZN broadcast. WAPA, MiddleEasy and Metro Puerto Rico list Serrano's record as 50-4-1; El Vocero, INFO7 and El Nuevo Día report 50-1-4; all agree on 32 knockouts and the goal of a 33rd. Metro Puerto Rico adds her BWAA, Sports Illustrated and Boxing Scene 2023 Boxer of the Year honors, current Ring magazine title and Falzon's regional belts. INFO7 and El Nuevo Día provide the June 3 press conference detail and 2023 Danila Ramos fight context. Sky Sports and Metro Puerto Rico carry the longest Serrano quotes; WAPA included a longer Instagram statement not repeated elsewhere. No outright contradictions exist.

What the reports do not say

The reports do not specify the exact purse for the fight, the full undercard, whether Serrano plans to pursue mixed martial arts or other ventures after boxing, or any official comment from the Puerto Rico government or boxing commission. They also do not state how many tickets will be available, their prices, expected attendance or Falzon's exact professional record.
