Incident reported to police
Police received an initial alert from a hospital about two people arriving with gunshot wounds, El Nuevo Día reported. Officers then interviewed a 22-year-old female complainant who described the events, according to both Primera Hora and El Nuevo Día.
The woman told police she had been traveling with a male friend on a 2019 red-and-black Honda CRF motorcycle along PR-192 at kilometer 0.1 in barrio Húcares, Naguabo, when occupants of a vehicle ahead fired several shots at them, Primera Hora reported. Both fell into a grassy area, she said. A man then exited the vehicle, took the motorcycle and fled, according to the account she gave police as cited by both outlets.

Investigation assigned
The injured pair were transported to a hospital by a family member, Primera Hora and El Nuevo Día reported. Their medical condition was not specified.
The case has been referred to agents of the Criminal Investigation Corps (CIC) in Humacao, both outlets stated. El Nuevo Día added that, through last Friday, police had recorded 135 carjackings islandwide this year, 40 fewer than the 175 reported at the same point in 2025.
Where the sources differ
Both Primera Hora and El Nuevo Día agree on the location (PR-192, km 0.1, barrio Húcares, Naguabo), the 22-year-old female complainant, the motorcycle description, the sequence of shots, fall into grassy area, theft by a man from the vehicle, transport by a relative to hospital, and referral to CIC Humacao. El Nuevo Día alone states the time as around 10:00 p.m. Sunday and includes the year-to-date carjacking statistic; Primera Hora does not mention the day of the week or the statistic. Both sources present the shooting and theft as the complainant's account to police rather than independently verified fact.
What the reports do not say
The sources do not state the current medical condition or exact injuries of the two people, the gender or age of the male companion, whether the stolen motorcycle has been recovered, any description of the suspects or the vehicle from which the shots were fired, any possible motive, or whether arrests have been made.
