Fourth straight quarter of mobile growth
Liberty Puerto Rico registered a net increase of 6,000 postpaid mobile customers during the third quarter of 2026, marking the fourth consecutive quarter of growth in that segment. The company’s residential broadband customer base showed signs of stabilization, while video subscribers grew. El Nuevo Día reported this on Nov. 6.
Liberty Latin America, the parent company, released the figures on Thursday as part of its third-quarter 2026 financial results. Ignacio “Nacho” Román, general manager of Liberty Puerto Rico, said in a statement that “our numbers continue to improve consistently” and that customers are responding well to innovative products and network upgrades. Both El Nuevo Día and El Vocero quoted the executive.

Revenue, profitability and product launches
The provider posted $289 million in revenue for the quarter, a 3% decline compared with the same period a year earlier. Adjusted OIBDA reached $103 million, an 8% increase on a restated basis, with the adjusted OIBDA margin expanding to approximately 36%. El Vocero reported the improvement was driven by lower operating costs.
Liberty attributed mobile growth in part to the July launch of its Liberty SIMple plan, which allows customers to bring their own device for $30 per line with unlimited data and roaming in the United States, Mexico, Canada and 17 destinations in Latin America and the Caribbean. The company also said improved processes for new Apple device launches helped boost equipment sales. Both outlets covered these points.
Network upgrades and industry recognition
During the quarter Liberty continued investments in its fixed network, adding batteries and capacity to improve reliability and speed. In September, Opensignal recognized Liberty as the leader in broadband quality, reliability and speed in Puerto Rico, naming it the sole winner of awards for consistent reliability and quality as well as best video experience. Román stated that the recognition means customers can do more streaming.
The company also added Edye, a premium preschool content ecosystem from HITN, to its video offerings. Liberty said it will keep focusing on operational efficiency, network investment and customer service.
Where the sources differ
El Nuevo Día and El Vocero agree on the addition of 6,000 postpaid mobile customers, the fourth consecutive quarter of growth, $289 million revenue (down 3%), $103 million OIBDA (up 8%), the Liberty SIMple plan details, Apple device sales contribution, broadband stabilization, video growth including Edye, network investments in batteries and capacity, and Opensignal’s recognition of Liberty in reliability, quality and video experience. El Vocero additionally notes churn reduction from the SIMple plan, operational process improvements, an approximate 36% OIBDA margin, and Liberty’s stated priority on subscriber loyalty. Both outlets quote Román with nearly identical statements on improving numbers and customer response.
What the reports do not say
The reports do not disclose the total number of mobile or broadband customers, exact year-ago revenue or OIBDA figures, the financial performance of the video segment alone, specific investment amounts in the network, or any forward-looking subscriber or revenue guidance for the remainder of 2026. They also do not mention competitive market share data or customer satisfaction survey results beyond the Opensignal study.
