New luxury development
Aman has announced Amantaru, a resort together with a set of branded residences, to be built on the southwest coast of Puerto Rico in Cabo Rojo. The development will occupy a hillside spot inside Esencia, a gated community that covers more than 2,000 acres and sits next to a protected nature reserve and wildlife refuge, BW Hotelier reported. It will become the group’s fourth Caribbean location and its first in Puerto Rico.
According to HOTELSMag.com, the name Amantaru comes from a Sanskrit word that means “peaceful tree.” Access will be provided by a private airport nearby that features a 6,700-foot runway and private hangars. Three Rules Capital is developing the project together with Reuben Brothers.

Design and amenities
Architect Marwan Al-Sayed of MASASTUDIO, who worked with Aman before on Amangiri in Utah, is leading the design of Amantaru. The buildings take cues from Puerto Rico’s historic forts and coastal landscapes by using natural and locally sourced materials, creating open spaces, and offering framed views of the sea and sunset, both BW Hotelier and HOTELSMag.com reported.
An Aman Spa and Wellness Centre, a Beach Club, racquet sports courts and several dining venues will be among the facilities. Guests will also have access to nature trails, boating experiences, and Esencia field clubs along with its two championship golf courses and equestrian options. HOTELSMag.com reported that the branded residences will range from three to eight bedrooms, follow the same architectural language and offer full service with indoor and outdoor living spaces. Owners will have access to all resort facilities and amenities.
Where the sources differ

HOTELSMag.com adds the meaning of the name Amantaru, details on the private airport runway length and that the CEO was named HOTELS Magazine’s 2026 Hotelier of the World.
