Beltrán Recognition
Beltrán, a native of Manatí, was inducted on July 26 as part of the Class of 2026 alongside Andruw Jones and Jeff Kent. He received 358 votes, or 84.2 percent of the ballots. The San Juan Daily Star reported he became the sixth Puerto Rican in the Hall of Fame.
Senate President Thomas Rivera Schatz and House Speaker Carlos Méndez Núñez presented Beltrán with a framed copy of Senate Concurrent Resolution 21. Rivera Schatz called him an example of discipline and commitment to his roots. The San Juan Daily Star reported the speakers highlighted Beltrán’s work with Puerto Rican youth through the Carlos Beltrán Baseball Academy.
Where the sources differ
Both sources cover baseball honors in Puerto Rico but address separate events. World Baseball Network focuses on the 32 nominees for the local Professional Baseball Hall of Fame and the Dec. 12 ceremony in Ponce. The San Juan Daily Star reports exclusively on the legislature’s Monday tribute to Carlos Beltrán for his National Baseball Hall of Fame induction, including quotes from officials and details of gifts presented. The sources do not overlap in content.
What the reports do not say
The sources do not list the full 32 nominees with their exact categories or provide vote totals or selection criteria for the local hall. They also omit details on how many will be inducted in 2026, any schedule for the Dec. 12 ceremony beyond the date and location, and whether Beltrán’s local hall nomination status was discussed during the legislative event.
