The short version
- El Vocero reported the PR-2 from Yauco to Guayanilla reopened after cleanup of a fuel spill caused by a truck accident
- Police said the Ponce Highway Patrol Division handled the incident and confirmed no one was injured
- El Nuevo Día and Telemundo Puerto Rico reported the road was temporarily closed while cleanup took place
- Authorities urged drivers to use alternate routes during the closure according to Telemundo Puerto Rico
Road reopened after cleanup
The PR-2 highway in the direction from Yauco to Guayanilla was reopened to traffic on Friday after cleanup work was completed following a fuel spill, El Vocero reported. The spill was caused by a traffic accident involving a truck during the morning, according to the Ponce Highway Patrol Division of the Puerto Rico Police.
The police informed that the road had to be closed while the situation was addressed and the fuel was removed. No injuries were reported as a result of the accident, both El Vocero and El Nuevo Día stated. The police later confirmed that cleaning operations had finished and traffic was fully restored.

Earlier closure and safety measures
Earlier on Friday, Telemundo Puerto Rico reported that the PR-2 remained closed in that direction due to the fuel spill from the truck accident. Agents from the Ponce Highway Patrol Division were investigating the crash while cleanup work was underway.
The authorities indicated that no one had been injured. Telemundo Puerto Rico added that police asked drivers to use alternate routes and to proceed with caution while the segment was closed. Fuel spills can reduce tire grip on the pavement and increase the risk of skidding, particularly on wet surfaces, El Vocero noted.
Where the sources differ
All four sources agree that a truck accident caused a fuel spill on PR-2 from Yauco toward Guayanilla, that the road was closed for cleanup, that no injuries occurred, and that it was later reopened. El Vocero and El Nuevo Día focus on the reopening after work was completed, while Telemundo Puerto Rico reported while the road was still closed and mentioned the call for alternate routes. El Vocero provides additional details on standard cleanup procedures and risks of fuel on pavement. The two identical El Nuevo Día entries report the same information.
What the reports do not say
The reports do not specify the exact time of the accident, the type of truck involved, the amount of fuel spilled, the cause of the crash, or what alternate routes were recommended. They also do not say whether any citations were issued or the outcome of the police investigation.
