Tourist robbed of over $55,000 in jewelry and watches in Loíza

A California visitor reported that items including a Rolex watch, Seiko watches, gold pieces and U.S. Army medals were taken from her vehicle in Piñones on Saturday morning.

Theft reported in Piñones

A tourist from California reported a theft that occurred on Saturday morning on highway PR-187 in Piñones, Loíza, Metro Puerto Rico reported. The woman had parked her white Hyundai Tucson in front of La Pocita to go to the beach. When she returned to the vehicle she noticed that a plastic bag containing jewelry and watches had been taken from inside.

The stolen items included one Rolex watch, two Seiko watches, a gold bracelet, a gold chain with a cross, an emerald ring and several medals awarded by the United States Army. The complainant valued the property at approximately $55,000, Telemundo Puerto Rico reported.

Investigation underway

The incident is being investigated as illegal appropriation. Agent Ángel Pabón carried out the preliminary investigation and referred the case to the Division of Crimes Against Property, which will continue the investigation, according to both outlets.
