Single-vehicle crash

A 32-year-old woman died early Sunday morning after the sport utility vehicle she was driving struck a concrete wall in Guayanilla. Metro Puerto Rico reported the victim was identified as Ashley Cristal Arroyo Maldonado, a resident of the municipality. The crash occurred around 1:40 a.m. on Calle 4 in front of residence number 77 in Parcelas Macana.

According to the preliminary investigation cited by all three outlets, Arroyo Maldonado was traveling eastbound in a gray 2023 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport when she lost control of the steering wheel, veered left and hit the front of the vehicle against the concrete structure. Conflicting details

The reports differ on some specifics. El Vocero reported that the woman lived in the barrio Llanos and that she was traveling at excessive speed. Primera Hora reported that the call to 9-1-1 was received at 1:53 a.m. and that the incident occurred in the grounds of the Guayanilla park. Metro Puerto Rico placed the location strictly as Parcelas Macana without mentioning a park.

All three sources agree the vehicle was a 2023 gray Mitsubishi Outlander Sport and that the driver died of trauma at the scene. The Policía said agent Edwin Cales Pacheco of the División de Patrullas de Carreteras de Ponce is in charge of the investigation together with prosecutor Jennifer Ortiz Rivera.
