The short version

  • El Nuevo Día reported that Miguel Soto Oquendo was arrested on Thursday as one of Bayamón's 10 most wanted for aggravated abuse under Ley 54
  • Both El Nuevo Día and Primera Hora state the domestic violence incident occurred on the afternoon of Aug. 12 2026 when he allegedly assaulted his partner
  • El Vocero and Primera Hora reported that during service of the warrant agents seized a firearm and controlled substances leading to additional charges
  • Police said Soto Oquendo did not post the combined $80,000 bail and was sent to the Bayamón Correctional Institution 705

Arrest and initial charges

Police arrested Miguel Soto Oquendo, 31, of Dorado, on Thursday after he appeared on the list of the 10 most wanted in the Bayamón police area. El Nuevo Día reported he faced an arrest warrant for aggravated maltreatment under Ley 54 for an incident on the afternoon of Aug. 12 2026 in which he allegedly assaulted his partner.

Agent José González of the Bayamón Gender Violence Division consulted the case with prosecutor Javier Rivera, who ordered charges. The evidence was presented in absentia before Judge Juan Portell of the Bayamón Court of First Instance, who found probable cause and set bail at $25,000, according to all three outlets. Primera Hora reported Soto Oquendo is a resident of Dorado.

Additional charges after warrant service

While executing the warrant, Agent Rafael Rivera of the Bayamón Intelligence and Special Arrests Division seized a firearm and controlled substances, El Vocero reported. The on-duty prosecutor ordered additional charges under Article 404 of the Controlled Substances Act and Article 6.05 of the Weapons Act.

The new evidence was presented before Judge Carolina Guzmán, who found probable cause on all counts and set an additional $55,000 bail. Soto Oquendo did not post the total bail and was committed to the Bayamón Correctional Institution 705, Primera Hora and El Vocero stated.

Where the sources differ

All three sources agree on the defendant's name, age, most-wanted status, the Aug. 12 2026 domestic violence incident, the initial $25,000 bail set by Judge Juan Portell, the seizure of a firearm and drugs, the additional charges, the $55,000 second bail set by Judge Carolina Guzmán, and commitment to Bayamón Correctional Institution 705. El Nuevo Día did not name Agent Rafael Rivera or cite the specific articles of the weapons and substances laws, while Primera Hora and El Vocero did. El Vocero alone explicitly named the domestic violence statute as Article 3.1 of Ley 54; the other two referred only to Ley 54.

What the reports do not say

The reports do not state where in Bayamón or Dorado the alleged domestic violence occurred, whether the victim was injured, the type of firearm or the specific controlled substances seized, the exact date the most-wanted list was published, or any comment from the defendant or his attorney. No information is given on the next court date.
