Investigation assigned
The case has been referred to the Criminal Investigation Corps (CIC) in Vega Baja, which will continue the investigation, both Telemundo Puerto Rico and El Nuevo Día said. No arrests have been reported.
The two outlets provided nearly identical accounts drawn from the same police report. A separate carjacking reported by El Nuevo Día in Carolina on Oct. 20 is unrelated to the Dorado incident.
Where the sources differ
Telemundo Puerto Rico and El Nuevo Día agree on all key facts including the time (around 10:56 p.m. Wednesday), location (PR-694, Dorado), method (intercepted by two vehicles, gunman in black), items taken ($4,500 cash, high-value watch and personal items), the head assault causing an open wound, and referral to the CIC in Vega Baja. El Nuevo Día adds that the events occurred "last night" relative to its Oct. 22 publication and includes a note on year-to-date carjackings, which does not apply to this robbery. There are no numerical or factual conflicts between the two sources.
What the reports do not say
The reports do not identify the victim, the exact model or color of his vehicle, the precise beach location, whether the two vehicles involved were occupied by additional people, the type of firearm used, or whether surveillance video or witnesses exist. They also do not state the value of the watch or other items taken, the extent of the victim's injuries beyond the open head wound, or any timeline for possible arrests.
