Final promotional trip
The Denominación de Origen Rías Baixas chose Puerto Rico for its last international promotional trip of 2026, according to both La Voz de Galicia and Vinos DO. San Juan hosted a day of activities for the Atlantic wines that included a seminar and a central showroom. Nearly one hundred prescribers attended, among them influencers, wine lovers, foodies, media, sommeliers and importers.
The Consejo Regulador sent its general secretary Ramón Huidobro and marketing director Eva Mínguez together with representatives of some of the participating wineries. Huidobro highlighted the commitment to native varieties, especially albariño, as well as the winemaking tradition, climate and landscape of Rías Baixas. The seminar was given by Alejandro Ferris of the Academia de Sommelier de Puerto Rico.

Market importance
Puerto Rico has held third position in the top ten of Rías Baixas international sales for several years, a ranking it maintains in the 2025-26 campaign, La Voz de Galicia reported. Volume reached 620,642 liters with a value exceeding five million euros. More than 50 wineries from the denomination are already present in the Puerto Rican market.
Most wines tasted were from the 2025 vintage, with representation also from 2024 down to 2020 and some bottles from the 2018 and 2016 harvests. The 2016 vintage was the first year the Spanish denomination visited the island for promotion and training on its wines, Vinos DO noted.
Where the sources differ
Both La Voz de Galicia and Vinos DO agree on the number of attendees (nearly 100), the presence of a seminar and showroom, the participation of 26 wineries and more than 60 brands, the names and roles of Ramón Huidobro and Eva Mínguez, the emphasis on albariño and Rías Baixas characteristics, the range of vintages tasted, and Puerto Rico's third-place ranking with identical sales figures for the 2025-26 campaign. Vinos DO adds that the delegation traveled on Oct. 29 and that 2016 was the first promotional visit to the island; La Voz de Galicia does not mention these details.
What the reports do not say
The sources do not specify the exact date the seminar and showroom took place in San Juan. They provide no information on outcomes such as new commercial agreements, orders placed during the event, or reactions from attendees. No details are given on the specific program of the seminar or which wineries sent representatives.
