Money and bills
Puerto Rico uses the U.S. dollar. Most retail purchases add the island's sales and use tax (IVU). Our IVU calculator applies the standard 11.5% rate documented by Hacienda. For restaurants and services, the tip calculator lets you choose a percent and optionally preview IVU on the bill—tip customs vary by place, so treat presets as visitor starting points, not rules.
Planning a full trip budget? Use the trip cost calculator with your own flight and lodging quotes plus published room-tax and ferry fare fields.
