12 Best Things To Do In Condado, Puerto Rico (2026)

Condado is San Juan's beachfront hotel district, squeezed between the Atlantic and the Condado Lagoon, with Ashford Avenue running down the middle.

I was born and raised in Puerto Rico, and I always make sure to stop by Condado whenever I’m in San Juan.

Here are the 12 best things to do in Condado, Puerto Rico, with the prices and hours we confirmed this month:

1. Kayak or paddle the Condado Lagoon

The Condado Lagoon is a protected estuary. Act 112 of 2013 turned it into the Condado Lagoon Estuarine Natural Reserve, banned motorboats and fishing on it, and named the Antillean manatee, which comes here to feed, as one of the species it protects. Flat water and a city skyline make it one of the best places in San Juan to try a kayak or a stand-up board.

Two outfits rent gear right on the lagoon:

• VIP Adventures works out of 864 Ashford Avenue, where the Dos Hermanos Bridge starts, across from the Condado Plaza Hilton, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Single kayaks and paddleboards start at $30 and doubles at $50; you must be 12 or older for a board.
• Glow Kayak Puerto Rico rents clear-bottom kayaks and boards to ages 6 and up (16 and up to kayak alone) and runs a 45-minute night paddle from $59. Its launch is next to the Hilton Garden Inn garage, where its customers get a special $8 rate for up to three hours.

2. Spend a day at the beach

Condado has two easy beaches. The big one is the Atlantic shore in front of the Ashford Avenue hotels, La Concha among them, and an easy public way in is La Ventana al Mar, the park between La Concha and the Condado Vanderbilt.

This is the beach for sunbathing, with food and drinks a few steps away. It faces open ocean, though, so look at the flags and the water before you swim.

Playita del Condado is the small, family-friendly cove tucked beside the Dos Hermanos Bridge end of Ashford Avenue.

3. Gaming at Casino Del Mar

Casino del Mar is the casino inside La Concha Resort at 1077 Ashford Avenue, which joined Marriott’s Autograph Collection after an $80.2 million renovation. The floor never closes: it runs around the clock, every day, with more than 400 slot machines, table games and a BetMGM sportsbook lounge that the resort calls the island’s first.

4. Go shopping on Ashford Avenue

Ashford Avenue is Condado’s main street. Hotels, restaurants, cafés and shops line it from the Dos Hermanos Bridge eastward, so it is easy to browse on foot between beach sessions. To find specific stores, use our San Juan shops directory.

5. Stroll through Plaza Antonia Quiñones

Plaza Antonia Quiñones, which many locals call Plaza Stella Maris, is the neighborhood’s shady town square. Neighbors say it carries the name of Antonia Quiñones, who deeded the land to the Condado community.

The city fenced it off on August 12, 2025, for a renovation budgeted at about $2.2 million: new lamps and benches, fresh paving, a rebuilt playground and new gardens. It was open again by May 2026, with lawns and ornamental plants under the old shade trees.

6. Take your fur baby to the Condado Pet Park

The Condado Pet Park is a fenced, city-run dog park at 1207 Calle Luchetti. It first opened in 2007, and a 2023 renovation added nine agility stations (tunnels, jumps, climbing and balance obstacles), drinking fountains for dogs and for people, restrooms and repaired gazebos.

It shuts for a couple of hours on its monthly fumigation days. Leave your dog at the hotel if you are heading to Distrito T-Mobile (item 10), which does not allow pets.

7. Have dinner inside La Concha’s seashell

La Marqueta, the open-air food hall that used to hold this spot, closed on January 28, 2024, and its lot next to the Condado Plaza has since been cleared for a Paulson Puerto Rico project.

8. Go clubbing or bar hopping

Ashford Avenue is where Condado goes out at night. Three places we checked this month:

• Patrick’s Irish Bar, 1157 Ashford Avenue at Calle Earle: a laid-back sports bar open 6 p.m. to 2 a.m., with $5 drink deals from 6 to 8 p.m.
• Fifty Eight, La Concha’s nightclub, a nod to the resort’s 1958 beginnings, runs Thursday through Saturday.
• 1208 Ashford International Cuisine & Steakhouse, at 1208 Ashford Avenue, is mainly a restaurant, but it stays open until midnight or later; it is closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

9. Private picnic at the lagoon

O:live Boutique Hotel moors private floating decks on the Condado Lagoon. The daytime version is a two-hour picnic with bubbly and a charcuterie box, and there are sunset, brunch and sunbathing decks too. After dark, Dinner under the Stars is a candlelit dinner for two on the water; it is adults only (18+), must be booked at least 72 hours ahead, and starts in the O:LV 55 hotel lobby.

10. Visit Distrito T-Mobile

Distrito T-Mobile is an entertainment complex in San Juan’s Convention District, roughly 2 miles by road from La Concha. It costs nothing to walk in, and you don’t need a reservation.

Inside are the Coca-Cola Music Hall for concerts, a Caribbean Cinemas VIP theater, about ten restaurants and the TOROVERDE Urban Park, with an arcade, the Sky Bull and Blazing Bull ziplines, a 40-obstacle rope maze and a climbing wall. The ziplines take reservations only and are closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

11. Stroll through La Ventana al Mar

The name means “window to the sea.” Built in 2004 where the old Condado Convention Center once stood, this public park on Ashford Avenue opens a gap between the Condado Vanderbilt and La Concha so anyone can see, and walk to, the Atlantic.

Puerto Rican architect Andrés Mignucci designed it around a large ornamental fountain and two sculptures by Ángel Botello, and the park hosts music festivals and weekend markets.

12. Book a bio bay tour

Condado doesn’t have a bioluminescent bay, but Puerto Rico has three, and the closest to San Juan is Laguna Grande in Fajardo, about 36 miles from Condado, or roughly an hour by car in light traffic.

At Laguna Grande you see the glow from a kayak; swimming there has been banned since 2007. If you want to swim in glowing water, La Parguera in Lajas is the only bio bay that allows it, and not on full-moon nights. Final thoughts

You can’t leave San Juan without visiting Condado.

Condado is the definition of a cosmopolitan place: lavish, friendly and diverse, and built around the beach, the lagoon and a long night out.

The best things to do in Condado are paddle boarding in the lagoon and relaxing at the beach.

I also recommend visiting one of Puerto Rico’s bio bays; Laguna Grande in Fajardo is the closest, about an hour’s drive from Condado.
